Lodge Work

The Lodge of Research of New Mexico is dedicated to identifying, collecting, and making the writings, presentations, and project work of the Members of the Jurisdiction available to spread further light in Masonry.  Today's technology allows many ways of providing information to others.  The Lodge is focused on developing methods to make as many of these available to Members as possible.

Cooperation and Outreach

As our focus is to promote and disseminate Masonic Light, our first priority should be to be interactive with other Masonic organizations.  We start at home and move outward:  first, Constituent Lodges, next appendant Bodies, next Activities with other jurisdictions, and finally, through the web.

Writings

Research papers are an obvious target of a Lodge of Research.  These are encouraged from members of this and all of the Constituent Lodges to be collected, reviewed, and published on an annual basis.  We encourage papers that focus on Masonry or New Mexico (or both), histories of each Lodge in New Mexico, and other "current" ideas as set forth by the Master.  We publish the histories of Lodges through our Grand Historian to assist him in making an annual report at the Grand Lodge Communication.  We publish research papers as a part of our annual publication.  The "current ideas" are often targeted with a particular audience in mind: "What's right with my Lodge" written by the Master of each Lodge delivered to the Grand Master - for example.

We also ask for Members of our Lodge to write short papers and share them on the web (here) as "blog" articles; either under their pages or under our "Articles" section.  These are, of course, reviewed and published on this site (articles may also be included in our annual publication).  Article/paper inclusion in our publication and on the website is determined by the Publications Committee.  Submitted works may be edited for content, and become copyrighted works of the Grand Lodge of New Mexico (non-exclusive).

This website (in the process) of being designed to support many interactive functions, and the Lodge has continuously supported and provided access to books since inception.  The Lodge of Research provides information and resources through many methods including our gifting program, book recommendations and sales, and multimedia presentations.
